Shawn Deel – Exceptionally Detailed Honan or Badger

I wrote about Shawn – along with Russ Hoover – in the October 2024 issue of Native American Art magazine. We emphasized that Shawn works in the Traditional Style but adds an exceptional number of very detailed, handmade accoutrements. This Badger is one such example. Note the tiny hand-cast conchos with turquoise on the belt, the handmade beaded necklace and bracelet, and painted leather loincloth. He is carrying a strung bow and rattle. And the featherwork is extensive and precise. The figure is 10″ to the top of the head with the feathers adding 2.5″. Signed SDEEL on the right foot. It has a loop for hanging.
