Tay Polequaptewa Hiilili with Exceptional Feathers

The beautiful feathers on this Hiilili come from Tay Polequaptewa’s parakeets named Mango and Taco. I bought this carving from Tay at his home and had the pleasure of Mango sitting on my shoulder. As with all of Tay’s work the painting and other details are very precise and aesthetically pleasing. The carving is 9″ tall. It is signed on the bottom of the feet “Tayron P.” with a star symbol. Beautiful execution. This katsina stands but also has a string for hanging.
