Master Carver Shawn Deel recently began making miniatures. Here’s a fine little Paakwa or Frog katsina. The carving is 2 3/8″ tall. He has a single feather on his head and a feather ruff. It is signed with his initials on the bottom of the kilt. Shawn is always experimenting, trying something different. He is featured in an article by Russ Hoover and myself in the October/ November 2024 issue of Native American Art magazine.
