The Boston hide drougher rounds Point Pinos (Point of the Pines) in 1835 while approaching the settlement and mission of Monterey. The location of this scene is at the Northern end of what is now known as the “17 mile drive” where the indigenous cedar tree and the common ice plant are still greatly in evidence.
