The Reversing Falls on Maine’s Weskeag River (Very Low Inventory)

This scene in South Thomaston is along the coastal road between Rockland and Thomaston, Maine, where a stone bridge spans the Weskeag River. Above the bridge is a large body of water which, as the tide ebbs, creates a rush of water through the narrow channel under the bridge which really rumbles. Upon the next change of tide the water will cascade in the opposite direction to again refill the inland basin. Hence the name “The Reversing Falls.” The view is immediately below the stone bridge which is just to my right. The Church, the wharf, the lobster boat and the rushing water compiled nicely.
