It’s rare to see a Maasaw image on jewelry. Maasaw is the Hopi Death Spirit, God of the Underworld. He is also said to have welcomed the Hopi to this, the Fourth World, and to have taught them how to grow corn and use fire. This tufa cast pendant was made by Antone Honanie, Hopi. It is 2 1/2” tall including the loop and 1 1/4” wide. I have combined it with a handmade Hopi sterling link chain. The chain is 24″ long.
