They have become quite rare in the wild due to loss of habitat, & are listed as an endangered & threatened species in a total of 6 states. Queen of the Prairie does like moist soil, & can be grown anywhere it gets enough water, or the plants can be naturalized. The flowers are beyond gorgeous, with huge 5 8 wide clusters of flowers over the foliage. They look like fuzzy pink explosions! They are also fragrant, with a scent similar to lilacs. Bees & butterflies adore them too. In fall, the flowers turn into small red 1/2″ berries that are also very ornamental. The leaves are also a unique shape, somewhat similar to a maple.
